Non Typical Black Bear

Gainsborough Galleries

22×28, oil on FC, $1950 CAD

This bear came to me one night while I was sleeping. His coat was comprised of an armour of paint, in brilliant colour, it moved as he did, similar to chain mail. He’s called Non Typical, as that’s a term hunters use to describe animals. Typical and Non. It’s a fantastic feeling to dream a painting – when you wake up you realize it’s all yours to create, but he is still quite mysterious to me.
